What is the best Magic Standard deck after Reality Fracture? The weekend of October 23–25, 2026 gave two official answers: Alex von Stange won Magic Spotlight: Fracture in Hartford (USA) with Jund Sacrifice, and Gage Fevold took Arena Championship 13 on MTG Arena with Orzhov Lifegain. That same weekend, Mono-Green Landfall was the most-played deck at both tournaments. For anyone buying cards for Standard, it is the most complete snapshot of the format since the set came out.
What happened at Spotlight: Fracture in Hartford?
Alex von Stange won Magic Spotlight: Fracture on October 25, 2026, beating Connor Ott in the final. Ott, the top seed after the Swiss rounds, was on Jeskai Artifacts. The tournament was part of SCG CON Hartford, in Connecticut, run by Star City Games.
The champion's path, according to Star City Games coverage:
- He opened with 11 straight wins, lost rounds 12 and 13, won round 14 and locked his Top 8 spot with a draw in the final round.
- He entered the playoffs as the No. 3 seed.
- In the quarterfinals he beat Max Medeiros (Dimir Midrange); in the semifinals he won a Jund Sacrifice mirror against Yineng Xu.
- In the final, he used Lively Dirge to find his combo pieces.
The prize was US$ 10,000, plus an invitation to the Pro Tour in Tokyo next year and the Black Lotus-themed trophy. Von Stange already held a Regional Championship title, won in Chiba, Japan, in 2023.
How did the tournament work and how much did it pay?
Spotlight: Fracture is a Standard event with a total prize pool of US$ 50,000. Entry cost US$ 75. Day 1 had nine Swiss rounds, and only players with 18 points or more advanced; 181 players made Day 2, which had six more rounds and a single-elimination Top 8.
Per the Star City Games table, 1st place took US$ 10,000, 2nd US$ 5,000, 3rd and 4th US$ 2,500 and 5th to 8th US$ 1,000, all with a Pro Tour invitation.
Every player received a promo Jace Beleren, and the top 128 got the foil version. The second leg, in Beijing, takes place on October 31 and November 1, 2026, also in Standard.
How does the winning Jund Sacrifice deck work?
Jund Sacrifice is a combo deck that turns artifact tokens into damage. With Biotech Specialist and The Sackville-Bagginses on the battlefield, each sacrificed token costs the opponent 3 life — the math appears in the official Arena Championship 13 breakdown and matches the cards' text.

- Biotech Specialist: whenever you sacrifice an artifact, it deals 2 damage to the opponent. When it enters, it also creates a Lander token, which is an artifact.
- The Sackville-Bagginses: whenever you sacrifice a token, the opponent loses 1 life.
- Lively Dirge: the {1} mode searches for any card and puts it into your graveyard; the {2} mode returns up to two creatures with total mana value 4 or less. Both combo pieces cost 2: if one is already in the graveyard, a Dirge with both modes finds the other and returns both to the battlefield.

The rest of von Stange's list makes and sacrifices artifacts: 4 Greedy Freebooter, 4 Gene Pollinator, 4 Umbral Collar Zealot, 4 Obsessive Pursuit (which makes Clue tokens) and 3 The Misty Mountains Cold (which makes Treasures). Removal is light — 3 Torch the Tower and 1 Requiting Hex — and the mana base runs 4 Starting Town. In the sideboard, 3 Duress and 3 Strategic Betrayal.
What was the Arena Championship 13 metagame?
Arena Championship 13 brought together 176 players on October 24–25, 2026, with a total prize pool of US$ 250,000 and every round in Standard. Gage Fevold won with Orzhov Lifegain; Jeff Lin finished second. Fevold took home US$ 10,500, according to the official standings.
The most-registered decks, in Frank Karsten's breakdown for magic.gg:
- Mono-Green Landfall — 29 players (16.5%)
- Dimir Uldaros — 25 (14.2%)
- Orzhov Life Gain — 21 (11.9%)
- Dimir Midrange — 14 (8.0%)
- Jund Sacrifice — 14 (8.0%)
- Azorius Control — 12 (6.8%)
- Azorius Artifacts — 11 (6.3%)
- Boros Dragons — 7 (4.0%)
- Izzet Spellementals — 6 (3.4%)
There were 32 different archetypes, and the top three made up 42.6% of the field. The format's new deck is Dimir Uldaros, built around Uldaros Theorix from Reality Fracture. The most-played card from the new set was The Theorist, Jace Beleren, which shows up in several decks.

The breakdown also records the drop of Izzet Spellementals, which led the winners' metagame in September and gained little from Reality Fracture, and the return of Mono-Green Landfall, which had about 5% of results in the set's first week. In Hartford, according to Star City Games, Mono-Green Landfall was also the most-played deck on Day 1 and put two players in the Top 8, as did Dimir Midrange.
How much do the cards and decks cost?
The prices below come from Scryfall (dollar = TCGplayer, euro = Cardmarket), non-foil English version, checked on October 26, 2026:
- The Theorist, Jace Beleren (FRA) — US$ 50.91 / € 42.35
- Starting Town (FIN) — US$ 12.62 / € 10.27
- Enlightened Confidant (FRA), the new piece in Orzhov Lifegain — US$ 7.95 / € 6.93
- Lively Dirge (OTJ) — US$ 5.71 / € 3.00
- Uldaros Theorix (FRA) — US$ 3.45 / € 2.37

- The Sackville-Bagginses (HOB) — US$ 0.99 / € 1.17

For the whole paper deck, MTGGoldfish shows US$ 266 for the reference list on its metagame page and US$ 285.15 for another list of the archetype (9th place at a Hartford RCQ). The lists differ, which is why the totals diverge. On the same metagame page, Dimir Midrange is listed at US$ 318, Lifegain at US$ 275, Mono-Green Landfall at US$ 246 and Jeskai Artifacts at US$ 415.
We could not check prices in Brazilian reais for this edition. To compare offers, see The Theorist, Jace Beleren on Collector Union.
What changes for buyers, sellers and collectors
- If you want to build Jund Sacrifice: the combo pieces are cheap (Biotech Specialist and The Sackville-Bagginses cost under US$ 1 each on Scryfall). Of the cards we checked, the most expensive in the list is Starting Town (US$ 12.62 each, and the deck plays four). Check the list with the deck validator before buying.
- If you play against the metagame: Requiting Hex is the most-played nonland main-deck card at AC13, and Duress, Strategic Betrayal, Seam Rip and Torpor Orb lead the sideboards. Having these answers is the baseline for your next tournament.
- If you own Jace: The Theorist, Jace Beleren is the most expensive card on this list and the most-played from the new set. See the card page and the offers before selling or buying.
- Calendar: Standard did not change in the October 12, 2026 ban announcement (see what changed only in Brawl). The next announcement is scheduled for November 30, 2026, and the Beijing leg, on October 31 and November 1, brings more results before then.
Our take
This section is the editorial team's opinion, based on the numbers above.
Standard after Reality Fracture looks more open than it was in September. No deck went above 16.5% at AC13, and the champions of the weekend's two big tournaments played different archetypes — neither of them the most played. For buyers, that favors cards that fit in more than one deck, like Jace and cheap removal, over pieces that only serve one strategy.
Jund Sacrifice stands out for its price: a Spotlight-winning deck whose core pieces cost under US$ 1. That is no guarantee they will go up, but it lets you try the deck without spending much — and Beijing and the November 30 announcement may redraw this picture.
