The next Magic: The Gathering set is Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek (set code TRK): it hits stores on November 13, 2026, arrives on MTG Arena on November 10 and has its prerelease from November 6 to 12. It is a Universes Beyond set, but the main set is legal in Standard. For Brazil there is a catch: there will be no Portuguese version. After it, Wizards of the Coast has already scheduled Nauctis: The Sunken Realm for February 5, 2027 — and is still keeping three secrets for next year.
When does the next Magic set come out?
The official Star Trek calendar, published by Wizards of the Coast:
- November 6–12, 2026 — prerelease at stores;
- November 10, 2026 — MTG Arena release;
- November 13, 2026 — worldwide tabletop release;
- November 13–15, 2026 — MagicCon: Atlanta, with the World Championship and Star Trek-themed activities;
- November 20–26, 2026 and January 15–21, 2027 — Commander Party at stores, with the Munitions Enthusiast and Highly Illogical promos;
- November 13, 2026 to January 28, 2027 — in-store season: Magic Presents: To Boldly Go (Solemn Simulacrum promo), Standard Showdown (Burst Lightning promo), Two-Headed Giant Commander Night and Friday Night Magic.
The official first look was on WeeklyMTG on July 14, 2026. The full preview season still has no official date: specialist sites point to late October, as with recent sets, but that is an estimate. On October 5, 2026, Scryfall listed 91 TRK cards already revealed.
What is Star Trek in Magic about?
The set covers the franchise's 60 years — from the original series to Lower Decks — with characters, ships and episodes. Cards shown so far include Captain James T. Kirk, Captain Kathryn Janeway and Dr. Beverly Crusher (mythics), Seven of Nine, Picard, Hoshi Sato and sagas retelling episodes such as The City on the Edge of Forever, Amok Time and In the Pale Moonlight.

There are three set codes, according to Wizards:
- TRK — the main set, legal in all formats, Standard included;
- TRC — the Commander deck cards, legal only in Commander, Legacy and Vintage;
- SDS (Stardates) — 30 reprints with Star Trek art, also outside Standard.
What are the new mechanics?
Three new mechanics and one returning, based on the set's reveal and the text of cards shown so far:
- Assimilate — you gain control of a creature (or put it onto the battlefield), put a +1/+1 counter on it and it becomes a Borg artifact creature, losing its other creature types.
- Face a dilemma — you "face a dilemma" whenever you choose one or more modes for a spell or ability. Seven of Nine, for example, draws a card every time that happens.
- Federation — an ability word that counts how many different creature types are among your non-Borg creatures. Hoshi Sato and Saavik use that number.
- Spacecraft and station — the ships from Edge of Eternities return. U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class becomes an artifact creature with 7 or more charge counters.

Which products are there and how much do they cost?
Wizards' suggested retail prices in the United States (prices in Brazil depend on each store):
- Play Booster — US$ 6.99 (14 cards: 7 commons, 3 uncommons, 1 wildcard of any rarity, 1 foil, 1 rare or mythic and 1 land);
- Collector Booster — US$ 37.99 (15 cards, with foils, extended-art rares and Booster Fun cards);
- Bundle — US$ 69.99; Beam Me Up Bundle — US$ 99.99;
- Scene Box — US$ 41.99 each (two versions: Divergent Timeline and Enterprise-Q);
- Draft Night — US$ 119.99;
- Commander Deck — US$ 74.99; Collector's Edition — US$ 159.99, with all 100 cards in a metallic finish.
The four Commander decks are Federation Fleet (Jeskai, with Jean-Luc Picard), Landing Party (Bant, tied to the original series and Spock), Klingon Fury (Mardu, with Klingons) and We Are the Borg (Esper, with the Borg Queen).
The Beginner Box (US$ 119.99) was cancelled in all regions on September 21, 2026, "due to delays in production, logistics, and shipping", according to Wizards. No other product in the set was affected.
What is collectible in Star Trek?
- 7 cards autographed by the actors — Kirk, Spock, Picard, Janeway, Seven of Nine, Geordi and Data —, about 250 copies of each, in Collector Boosters. They are printed in English only, but appear in Collector Boosters of any language;
- all 10 shock lands in an LCARS frame (the computer interface from The Next Generation), which can show up in both play and collector boosters;
- cards printed in Klingon, according to Wizards' material for retailers;
- frame treatments: 29 LCARS cards, 24 in the classic Enterprise style and 25 scene cards.
What changes for buyers, sellers and collectors in Brazil?
- There will be no Star Trek in Portuguese. The official page lists English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. Players who want cards in a local language will go with Spanish; most of the market is likely to trade in English.
- Preorder singles already have prices. On October 5, 2026, U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class (non-foil, English) was listed at US$ 31.32 and Seven of Nine at US$ 2.99 on TCGplayer, according to Scryfall. Preorder prices tend to move a lot before release — we saw that with Reality Fracture.
- Shock lands are back in circulation in a new version. If you have shocks from other sets to sell or trade, keep an eye on who is looking for them in Explore.
- Want to see the card in detail? Enterprise-D has its own page on the site.
And after Star Trek? The 2027 calendar
Wizards announced on July 17, 2026 that 2027 will have six sets: three from Magic's Multiverse alternating with three Universes Beyond.
- Nauctis: The Sunken Realm — February 5, 2027. The first fully underwater plane: merfolk, seals, homarids and gods that swim with their followers, in a conflict between two kingdoms;
- Kamigawa: Titanbreach — June 4, 2027. The monsters of Ikoria crash into Kamigawa through an Omenpath;
- Zhalfir — October 1, 2027. The kingdom returns as its own plane, with Teferi.
The three Universes Beyond windows of 2027 — April 9, August 6 and November 19, according to the calendar compiled by Star City Games — have no announced theme yet. Wizards also promised four MagicCons in 2027, the first one in Japan.
What is still unknown — and what is speculated
Not official yet:
- the start date of Star Trek's full preview season and the final card list;
- which franchises fill the three Universes Beyond slots of 2027.
Already scheduled to be revealed:
- October 9, 2026 — Magic panel at New York Comic Con (7:45–8:45 p.m. New York time; 8:45–9:45 p.m. in Brasília), with Magic reveals promised by Wizards. Specialist sites expect a Universes Beyond announcement;
- November 13, 2026 — First Look panel at MagicCon: Atlanta, where Star City Games expects the first Nauctis previews.
Speculation (unconfirmed): in its second-quarter 2026 earnings, Hasbro indicated that the 2027 Universes Beyond sets will be more "fantasy-adjacent". From that, the community names Game of Thrones, Mistborn/Cosmere (Brandon Sanderson) and The Legend of Zelda as candidates. None of these names has been confirmed by Wizards.
Our take
Collector Union's opinion, based on the facts above.
Star Trek looks designed for two audiences at once: the franchise fan (autographs, scene boxes, Klingon cards) and the Standard player, who gets new mechanics and shock land reprints. For Brazilian players, the lack of Portuguese matters more at casual tables and store events than for collectors, who already trade in English.
The Beginner Box cancellation, after the Reality Fracture delays, is one more sign of tight logistics in 2026. In our view, it makes sense to preorder with a trusted store and not pay a premium over preorder prices before the full list is out. And with Nauctis in February, the Magic budget will have no breathing room between November and Carnival.
