When does the next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion come out, and what is changing in the game? Dual Fusion arrives on October 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time (10:00 p.m. in Brasília) and brings the game's first dual-type Pokémon: Mega Mewtwo X ex, a Psychic and Fighting type, and Mega Greninja ex, a Water and Darkness type. It opens a new series in Pokémon TCG Pocket, and The Pokémon Company has already said that, starting with it, new packs will come out every six weeks instead of every four.
What is Dual Fusion and when does it come out?
Dual Fusion is the next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion, announced on the official site on October 20, 2026. It launches on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. PDT — 10:00 p.m. the same day in Brasília, by our conversion. It marks the debut of dual-type Pokémon: each card carries two colors and two types.
The two confirmed highlights are:
- Mega Mewtwo X ex — Psychic and Fighting types
- Mega Greninja ex — Water and Darkness types
The full card list and the number of packs have not been published on the official pages yet. Some sites mention an October 30 release; the official date is October 28, Pacific time.

What changes in Pocket with the new series?
The main change is the pace: packs will come out roughly every six weeks instead of every four. This comes from the producer letter published on October 15, 2026. The game team says it heard feedback that the number of cards released in each pack up to the B series made collecting difficult.
What the letter promises for the new series:
- Immersive cards as mission rewards, for completing collections, in addition to the ones from packs.
- Special Pack: First Partners, with the first partner Pokémon from all nine regions of the games. It is opened with its own stamina, which recovers once a week.
- ★1 promo cards from weekly missions over three weeks, with three illustrations sharing one theme.
- Community Decks: browse popular decks and friends' decks in the game and copy them with your own cards.
- Rental decks available on the day each new pack launches, with unlimited uses and also in versus battles.
- Limited Battle Events, with card restrictions, some time after each pack.
- Easier trading: see cards of any rarity missing from your partner's collection and spot the ones on your share partner's wishlist.
The letter itself warns that everything is "under development" and that content and timing may change.
Why is Pocket changing now?
The producer letter does not give numbers, but the change follows a drop in players. According to results from DeNA, the game's developer, released on August 5, 2026, Pocket averaged 23 million monthly active users in the April–June 2026 quarter, compared with 39 million a year earlier. Wargamer and Gaming ProMax report the same figures and say DeNA named Pocket as the main cause of the revenue drop in its game segment.

What about the 30th anniversary Pikachu?
Since October 20, 2026, Pocket has had special Pika Pika! Pikachu missions for the Pokémon TCG's 30th anniversary. They run until October 19, 2027. Anyone who logs in on any 10 days during the period gets an immersive Pikachu ex card illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN, the same artist behind the Futuristic rarity cards in the physical 30th Celebration set (see our set guide).
There are also themed Pikachu packs, with ♦ to ★★ cards.

What changes for buyers, sellers and collectors
Pocket cards are digital and cannot be sold — trading only happens inside the game. What may move is demand for physical cards of the same Pokémon. Mega Greninja ex, for example, has existed in the physical TCG since Chaos Rising, released on May 22, 2026. Prices on October 21, 2026, from Cardmarket data (updated Oct 20) and TCGplayer data (updated Oct 14) compiled by TCGdex, English cards:
- Mega Greninja ex, Double Rare (022) — €0.86 on Cardmarket; US$ 0.81 on TCGplayer
- Mega Greninja ex, Ultra Rare (100) — €8.72; US$ 8.29
- Mega Greninja ex, Mega Hyper Rare (122) — €124.46; US$ 121.10
- Mega Greninja ex, Special Illustration Rare (116) — €139.07; US$ 127.82
What to do:
- If you track this price, note today's values and compare after October 28. There is no data showing Pocket affects physical card prices; it is better to measure than to assume.
- To see who sells or buys the physical card in Brazil, use the Collector Union search for Mega Greninja ex.
- In Pocket, the windows that yield the most cards are Bonus Week (Nov 13 to 20) and the anniversary campaign (until Dec 14). With packs every six weeks, there is more time to complete each set before the next one.
- In physical cards, the next set is Mega Evolution—Delta Reign, with prereleases starting October 24 and launch on November 6, 2026 — dates and preorder prices in our Delta Reign guide. See also all our Pokémon articles.
Our take
This section is Collector Union's opinion, based on the facts above.
The six-week cycle is the Pocket team's most concrete response to a large drop in players. The letter itself gives the reason: collectors could not keep up. Fewer packs per year, with more events between them, tends to favor people who play at a calm pace and want to complete sets — the profile of many people who also collect physical cards.
Dual types are the gameplay novelty, but there is not enough information yet to judge their weight: The Pokémon Company has not explained on its official pages how Weakness and Energy work on these cards. It is worth waiting for the launch before drawing any conclusions about the metagame.
